Grunge Texture

1. Open a New Document size 256x256 px and make  Brushed Metal Texture (Kai Krause's Tips und Tricks: Excellent and I would say try them all, you will learn a lot, here TIP #3, and how I made mine here), name it 'Metal'.

2. Duplicate 'Metal' Layer and name it 'Wave' go to Filter>Distort>Wave>Type>Sine. Press Randomize Button few times. Go to Filter>Distort>Ocean Ripple>  Size=9, Magnitude 9. Your image should look like this.

3. Make a New Layer name it 'Clouds' set default colors (Ctrl+D) and go to Filter>Render>Clouds. Set Blending Mode to Overlay.

4. Create a New Layer name it 'Displace', Edit>Copy (Ctrl+C) and Edit>Paste (Ctrl+V) similar Bump Map (or download one that I used here). Go to Filter>Distort> Displace>H=10%, V=10% select: Strech To Fit, Repeat Edge Pixels, use Displacement Map of your choice. I used this one: Garden Dmap.PSD ,

 Add a Layer Mask.

5. For masking I used Grunge Brush ( excellent source for brushes vbrush). Your image should look like this. Set Blending Mode to Overlay.

6. This is final image. Adjust Levels to your taste and to add Claw Gashes, you should try tutorial by Mark Anthony Larmand - (aka theKeeper) at PSG.
